D-Day: driving test

while most, if not all of you ppl were still in your comfy beds dreaming of who knows what... i was shivering, praying and pep talking to myself. seriously, i was so nervous n it's not even spm yet. and for those who've safely got their license already, don't sneer. at that time, u must've been as terrified as i was. well, not terrified exactly....but a lil' worried i guess. all that time, i was praying n praying n well, didn't feel so doomed after that.
anyway...
had time to compose my nerves ( inconvenient things, nerves) cos there were like, so many ppl there all waiting to take the tests too. good thing too actually, so i didn't feel to nervous n alone. i mean how could you right? when the fella nxt to you looks equally as freaked out. haha, ok, maybe i'm stretching the truth a bit. but u get my point.
finally...
"denise ('dennis', *sigh* yet again) ur up nxt" (the guy didn't say that, but it's close if u say it in hokkien). ok, this is it. get up, now breathe.... in out, in out.. yes, that's it. head to the car, no ...9 is it? everything jz happened in a blur. i got into the car (darn kecik kancil), all the while mentally reminding myself to: shift seat, rearview mirror, side mirror, seat belt..... what seat belt? yes, n that's where i made a HUGE really stupid mistake. i eased the car into 1st gear n was abt to go off when the tester gave me a funny look n asked if i'd forgotten anything. "ada lupa apa tak?" . my head screamed "SEAT BELT, SEAT BELT!!!!!!" n denise answered, "o yea... sry, sry... saya lupa." *sheepish grin*
so.... ntg much abt the rd test except that the tester was kinda bullying askin me to speed up. heck! can't you see that i'm nervous already taking this test without having to go faster n who knows, cause an accident in the process which would in turn make u fail me???
and after that, he handed me the pink slip. i, i, i..... PASSED!!! thank God for that. now, for the 2nd part of the challenge. so it was back to the waiting room for another session of staring at the ceiling and alternating with my nails, assesing every1 in the room, daydream.... yeah... wut fun right?
to cut the long story short
the parking, slope, n 3 point turn were a breeze. a breeze to do but i was really nervous abt my slope test. there's like a half-half possibility that i might mess up n go down the slope posterior 1st. happened lotsa times b4.
but i did it!! went up the slope, brake, waited 4 the go ahead sign n revved down the hill. whew! BIG relief. n the rest was history. enough said.
well, the only thing that matters is that i passed. i P-A-S-S-E-D! lulus...!
"....i can do what God says i can do...."
that's true.

embarrasment 101
well, wut can i say? at 3 something this afternoon, denise was found once again, doing it. and no, you pervert, it has ntg to do with reproduction... so please... get that out of your mind tq vry much. so, where was i? o yeah, she was found once again humiliating, embarrasing, making a fool out of herself. yep... another one to add to my top 10 most wish-i could-forget-but-nvr-will moments. *sigh* i think i already have a bucketfull of it... so *plop* another one goes in.
in a nutshell-
while driving (err.. no, practising driving) at the driving sch (oh, btw, i'll be taking my test really, really soon... so, pray i pass), i was getting worser n worser at all the obstacles. my parking was awry... yea, n believe it or not, i managed to knock down a pole while backing out from the parking lot. congratulations right? oh, but not before grazing the car wiv another pole. n imagine, i had to get out of the car TWICE! to shift the pole so i could get out of the stupid spot. thank gdness there were few ppl around n (to be even MORE thankful), my instructor wasn't there. otherwise, he would be shouting to me (he's a nice guy, but ya noe... nice ppl have loud voices too).
oh, but we haven't gotten to the juicy part yet.
u see, when denise gets flustered, she loses concentration; causing her to be almost (hah! i said almost) oblivions to everything but the cause of wtv dat caused it. n of cos i was flustered then. i mean, who wouldn't be after being the only 'lucky' one to knock down a pole n picking it up twice. the 2nd time being to shift it so dat i could get out of my spot the cheating way. anyway, i'll get to the point...
after getting out, i headed to the 3 point turn (no other way out) n when i was turning the steering (it's not auto steering so i can see my arm muscles start to build) suddenly, the car stopped. at 1st, i was like, 'okayy... that always happens. no big. ' but then, a split second after i turned on the engine again, it happened again. n again. n again. i tried reversing, ntg happened. going straight... still the same thing. at that time, my head was pushing all the panic buttons there was, adrenaline; super high (nt for a nice reason though). for almost a lifetime (ok, so i might be exaggerating a alot) i was stuck. stuck in that lil' space jamming up the place, making the other cars in line wait n watch me blunder thru it all. n guess wut? no 1 even came over to help. so there i was... almost weeping with helplessness and frustration, car going back n forth, engine being on(by me) n off (the car). it was scary.
finally.... FINALLY..... some other instructor kindda realised that i was causing a big scene there n yelled the possibilities of the cars strange behaviour. n then, i realised.......... omgosh! stupidly, i didn't release the handbrake after doing the slope thing. that was why i couldn't move at all. argh! jz one of the many things that u could expect me to do. sheesh! my single most embarrasing moment of the yr so far. so, so, sooo humiliating. i must be one of the worst drivers ever.
but oh well... as they say, what that won't kill you will make you stronger. yes? agree? and, everything (gd or bad) is always a life experience for denise. u knoe... 50 yrs from now, i can proudly boast that i managed to be the day's most horrendous driver at the driving sch to my grandkids. i mean, how many ppl can actually say that?

prom: a forward

today was prom. prom was today.
as of now, i'm pretty beat up and i'm not really in the mood to describe word-for-word how things went. maybe later when i collect my random thoughts and piece them together. but this i'll say... everything went smoothly, any glitches were swiftly covered (even i didn't know if there were any) and omgosh! the ppl jz looked oh-so-wonderful. really. so, cheers folks for making our last major function as F5's a huge success.
of cos, that's not me... but i had to put a prom-ish pic, so, this was the closest i could get.

have a heart
fri, 7.11pm: walk dog [check]
driving lesson [postponed]
physics [finished bab1]
laundry [pending]
i'm feeling particularly useful today. so far, i've managed to have an almost distraction free study time courteousy of my driving instructor who cancelled on me at 3.30 (lesson was supposed to be at 3). oh well... more time to study then.
had a heart exam today. in sch. so there i was, jz 1 of the many ppl in my sch waiting in line 4 the doc to check if my heart's beating alright. came to my turn, she put the stetoscope to my chest, n listened... n listened... n put it in 5 other different places n still didn't get what she wanted to hear. n then, oh man! she asked me to stay back while she checked my classmates. i was shocked! i mean, what? do i have a heart problem? am i unwell...??? as far as i know, i'm perfectly healthy. i eat healthy (err... ok, maybe not), i don't smoke, or drink, or hook up & i exercise when i can (ok, so i'm nt exactly VRY sporty, but still...). n there i was, asked to stay behind so she could run more tests on me to confirm if i'm suffering from a heart desease. OMYGOSH! i felt like some kinda freak sitting on the stool, waiting 4 her to finish so she could jz tell me wut on earth was wrong with me so i could recede back to class to continue my normal n HEALTHY life.
meanwhile, i was kept busy grinning at my friends (can u even grin when u might turn out to haf heart desease?? ) n reassuring them that i was a.ok (y was i even reassuring them? heck! i need all the conforting i can get). after what seemed like hours (it was actually minutes, but u know how time flies when you're having 'fun') of being a freak show exibit; time for my verdict.
how it went: the nurse asked abt my visits to hospitals in the past (yeah, hospitals... you know; clean sterile floors, scrubs, puking ppl, drips, injections, blood... you can always count on hospitals for 5* accomodation. luxury at it's best). n i told her abt having asthma in the past. but that was seriously long ago. i'm almost as healthy as any horse now. trust me. after having me breathe in n out a couple lot more times n having finally satisfied her that i did not, in fact suffer from any terminal illness, i was free to go. oh, Finally!
one last word: i'm fine alright! want to get on my good side? then don't ever ask me if i'm fine or not (regarding this matter ler). cos i am. anyway, i won't give in without a fight. i'll survive alrite!

things, things everywhere

i'm currently hankering after a new phone. sony ericsson's V630i which is so Unfortunately, NOT AVAILABLE in m'sia!!! so, so unfortunate!! y, oh y? must the phone i crave be THE one that the country doesn't import?
can u see it? isn't it jz such a beauty? *sigh* 2 megapixel cam, instant upload of photos to blog, mp3 player, err.... wut else....and other not too significant things which left my mind.
but anyway.... life isn't all abt things. material stuff. when lionel came bac n talked a lil' abt life on doulos n his changed perspective of life after seeing first-hand the poverty of some nations..., i actually felt that my whole existance was a farce. so shallow. so petty. i mean, everyday, all i think off is abt things that i want ( i already haf lots, so much, but isn't it human nature to nvr be satisfied wiv wut they have?), sch (scoring in exams, stuff at sch), my friends n family, church, my single life (ok, i'll admit to that, at least). all that plus my other activities. that's jz it. that's IT! all of my life, when i could be doing more meaningful things like saving ppl, n i waste it here typing abt wut i could do. ppl out there r starving n here i am eating almost 5 meals a day n still complaining abt it.
it's a shallow life, the 1 i'm living now. when my life's ambition is to marry well (hey, i'm being frank here) n have beautiful kids who won't rebel (quite impossible, i think), great job, n finally, go to heaven. o yeah, b4 that, i wanna go see the world, expand my horizons... widen my horribly cramped perspective of the world.
i'll try to be less materialistic but it's hard if u live where i do. where the mall is the only place to hangout n ur constantly surrounded by ppl pushing their wares into ur face. it's almost an agony to say no, really. but, i'll try. put my life back into perspective, get my priorities right n concentrate more on God n wut's important. but, i'm still going to get myself new sunglasses. hey, i'm gonna drive soon ya know... n don't even dare say that i'm materialistic.

Reasons To Go To School
Foreword: This article was written so because the writer was goaded by a friend into writing a cheerful article initially meant for the sch mag. But due to space constraint in the mag (and to make life easier for the editor, her friend), the writer didn't turn her masterpiece in. Prior to writing this, she has attempted to think of her glass as ‘half full’. The writer also wishes to state that she will not be held responsible should any party feel slighted or offended by the contents of this article. Lastly, think happy thoughts.
Reasons To Go To School
1.You never know what might happen the next day
Seriously. Like where L’s* bottle might turn up next. For those not in the know, she has wonderfully managed to misplace and recover back her; I quote Ms. Leong* “cheap red plastic bottle” in various places. The school canteen and under Ross’s* desk being one of the many places. Who put it there I wonder?
2.The weird wacky people
This school is a potpourri of different cultures, customs and mindsets. From jocks to drama queens, inspirational speakers to crafty businesswomen, how could school possibly be dull when we are peppered with characters such as these?
To me, small happiness is when Yap* condescends to humour the class by crooning her favourite songs. Or when my friends listen to me enthuse about Utt for the hundredth time with minimal eye-rolling and no snide comments.
3.Dodging the dreaded ‘Kelas Terkotor’ award… yet again.
“Reporting live from ABC (Arifian Broadcasting Channel), Head prefect Nikki* was heard reminding the residents of the class beside the agama room (5 A*) to clean up their act. Sources say that the aforesaid class managed to miraculously avoid being called up to pick rubbish in the school premises for the seventh consecutive time. The residents are duly impressed. It is later reported that the Arifians have been picking up after themselves and are generally living cleaner lives.”
4.Events and happenings in school
Being the self-confessed couch potato that I am, I’ll be the first to admit that 51% (that’s the majority by the way) of my social life happens here, in school. So I guess school isn’t such the ‘horrid’ place that I sometimes make it out to be. In my four ++ years in this school, I have (not in any particular order) turned entrepreneur and hawker (selling overpriced drinks on Canteen Day), upholsterer and interior designer’s assistant (decorating the hall with baubles the day before our ranger’s annual gathering), maid-of-all-work (scrubbing the walls and screaming every time a lizard drops out of nowhere during Gotong-Royong) and a performer (Speech Day).
5.The very essence of my school
Just being in school; breathing in the rather polluted ‘fresh’ air, getting love-grass stuck to your socks as you walk across the field, floating from class to class because of the shortage of classrooms…. These are some of the things that make C__ * so C__*. Yes, there are times when I get frustrated by the pointlessness of certain school rules. But hey! Would you rather be on the streets selling pirated DVDs instead of getting yourself a (not-so-free) education to better your future?
