prom: a forward

today was prom. prom was today.
as of now, i'm pretty beat up and i'm not really in the mood to describe word-for-word how things went. maybe later when i collect my random thoughts and piece them together. but this i'll say... everything went smoothly, any glitches were swiftly covered (even i didn't know if there were any) and omgosh! the ppl jz looked oh-so-wonderful. really. so, cheers folks for making our last major function as F5's a huge success.
of cos, that's not me... but i had to put a prom-ish pic, so, this was the closest i could get.

Reasons To Go To School
Foreword: This article was written so because the writer was goaded by a friend into writing a cheerful article initially meant for the sch mag. But due to space constraint in the mag (and to make life easier for the editor, her friend), the writer didn't turn her masterpiece in. Prior to writing this, she has attempted to think of her glass as ‘half full’. The writer also wishes to state that she will not be held responsible should any party feel slighted or offended by the contents of this article. Lastly, think happy thoughts.
Reasons To Go To School
1.You never know what might happen the next day
Seriously. Like where L’s* bottle might turn up next. For those not in the know, she has wonderfully managed to misplace and recover back her; I quote Ms. Leong* “cheap red plastic bottle” in various places. The school canteen and under Ross’s* desk being one of the many places. Who put it there I wonder?
2.The weird wacky people
This school is a potpourri of different cultures, customs and mindsets. From jocks to drama queens, inspirational speakers to crafty businesswomen, how could school possibly be dull when we are peppered with characters such as these?
To me, small happiness is when Yap* condescends to humour the class by crooning her favourite songs. Or when my friends listen to me enthuse about Utt for the hundredth time with minimal eye-rolling and no snide comments.
3.Dodging the dreaded ‘Kelas Terkotor’ award… yet again.
“Reporting live from ABC (Arifian Broadcasting Channel), Head prefect Nikki* was heard reminding the residents of the class beside the agama room (5 A*) to clean up their act. Sources say that the aforesaid class managed to miraculously avoid being called up to pick rubbish in the school premises for the seventh consecutive time. The residents are duly impressed. It is later reported that the Arifians have been picking up after themselves and are generally living cleaner lives.”
4.Events and happenings in school
Being the self-confessed couch potato that I am, I’ll be the first to admit that 51% (that’s the majority by the way) of my social life happens here, in school. So I guess school isn’t such the ‘horrid’ place that I sometimes make it out to be. In my four ++ years in this school, I have (not in any particular order) turned entrepreneur and hawker (selling overpriced drinks on Canteen Day), upholsterer and interior designer’s assistant (decorating the hall with baubles the day before our ranger’s annual gathering), maid-of-all-work (scrubbing the walls and screaming every time a lizard drops out of nowhere during Gotong-Royong) and a performer (Speech Day).
5.The very essence of my school
Just being in school; breathing in the rather polluted ‘fresh’ air, getting love-grass stuck to your socks as you walk across the field, floating from class to class because of the shortage of classrooms…. These are some of the things that make C__ * so C__*. Yes, there are times when I get frustrated by the pointlessness of certain school rules. But hey! Would you rather be on the streets selling pirated DVDs instead of getting yourself a (not-so-free) education to better your future?

saturdays part 2

continuation of last week's blog
sat (1.7.06)
went to hunza like early.... 12 sumthin. hehe... early. we had prac for our skit dat we were gonna perform dat night... unconventionally (n rather inconveniently) themed 'Hawaiian Nite'. bring out the pineapples n leis, flowery shirts n ..... u get the picture. actually, heheh.. my eyes were kinda blinded by all the bright colours n flower motives. we were swamped by hawaiian shirts n wraparound skirts. no kidding. anyway, we practised a lil' , mostly wiv the powerpuff girls routine n the lights n sound. umm, no yellowcard here, lol.
let me clue u in on wut my group prepared before going in depth cos i think i see lotsa quizzical brows now. basically, it was a skit in 3. haha, blur? let me explain. we made the whole skit seem as if the audience were actually in the cinema waiting 4 the movie to start. so, the comercials roll, n the trailers start. so, we had powerpuff gals n star wars 'trailers' as the appetizers n shota-shota as the main act.
matt n joe came late so, we only managed to really prac at like 6. then, wiv insufficient prac, we jz said " do or die trying" n did it. urm.. after lotsa fussing wiv our dressing. i for one am proud to say dat i didn't wear a wrap skirt. not dat there was anything wrong wiv wearing one. jz dat, everybody was wearing it so, me,pris n qy wore our borrowed happy pants.
so far, it went well (our act), except for rather BIG technical errors for our 1st 2 items. so sad... the powerpuffgals theme song suddenly changed to star wars theme song in the middle. n the comp hanged in the middle of the powerpoint b4 star wars. aikz... i was jz diiissss close to losing it at that point. really. but i haf to commend my team mates 4 pulling it off effortlessly. they r truly, real actors. the ppg- steffy, sab & antz,... i guess the whole thing was ruin but at least they finished the whole thing. star wars - matt, joe, esther,....well, despite the huge technical error, they managed to get the audience ready n laughing together wiv us. n my shota peeps - pris, matt, qy, sab n not forgettin adr (for his running commentary)... hopefully we did do wut we set out to do. dat was to make our audiences sides split wiv too much laughing. did we?
other notable performances were the 5-minute football (really liked dat 1), the chicken dance (which we all did) n westlife. hahar... urm, eastlife.... wtv u wanna call them. it was like, suddenly, the whole place became a concert wiv torches n phones waving in the air. started by renee n me n followed by everyone else. *gleeful grin*. oh yeah... n a fashion show by all of us. real lawak... the runway is sweet, n so is yellowcard's lead singer (his gorgeous eyes anyway). haha.
n the winner? the chicken dance. i really wish i cud say dat my group won but aikz... honesty prevents me from doing so. but overall... i had more fun then i ever had in a long time. we mz haf things like dis more often. wut nxt? poser nite.....? can't wait.

saturdays
it's been a hectic weekend. the 2nd one in 2 weeks. but of cos... hectic= not boring, n not boring always is so much better than idling.
saturdays r so much fun nowadays. pity i'll soon haf to give it up 4 the sake of cramming my brain wiv pretty pointless info that'll nvr get me further in life after i pass my spm. waste of time, really.
since i didn't blog abt it... so here goes. both my saturdays in a go.
last sat...
SPIRIT OF PENANG aka amazing race version pg first
basically, we were divided into 5 teams n were supposed to find n finish our tasks n get back to the starting point in the shortest time. well, jz like amazing race/ explorace/ spirit of kl. u get the pic.
12.45pm - reached hunza. was supposed to be there at 12.30 but u noe, m'sian time...
12.50pm - the team members were read out... some change to the members of some inbalanced teams... like urs truly. o yea, i was made leader (at the last minute, n vry reluctantly) of a team, code named Group 5. grumbled a bit... tee-hee... gotta admit dat ler.
approx 1 - set out to our 1st destination. we were fetched by the seniors (read: ppl wiv cars) to the flagging off point (gurney).
abt 20 minutes later... - dropped off by jerald at sunrise, only to find out that the meeting place had been changed. thank gdness 4 alex who happened to be there at that time n so generously offered to bring us to gurney in his 'brand new car'.
after 5 minutes - rendezvous at the designated spot. last minute instructions given out, n finally... the flag off. of cos, wiv the first clues. the first clue was easy. bac to sunrise.
a short walk later - we (my team) were ushered into mcD 4 our first task. eating our ice-cream cones from the bottom up. n dat, was relatively one of the easiest tasks all around. no shit. o yea, b4 i forget, my team memberz... well, we had kw, melv, josh, jasher, joce, em & their friend (forgot the name) . yupe, 8 of us (dun forget me....). n later, had another challenge. taking out mentos's from a big bottle of coke. hehe... let me recommend putting a mentos ( or any minty sweet) into a bottle of newly opened coke. u'll nvr noe wut might happen... or u cud jz ask me.
upon completion - got our nxt clue. dat really made us clueless. but we headed bac to gp anyway. met jim's group on the way... doubled our paces n flashed them evil smiles. muahaha. wasted a lot of time jz dechiphering the clue. n even more jz trying to locate the spot.
2-3 sumthing - running around gp doing our other tasks. among them were buying a specific amount of things (as in price) n taking photos of some shop names to form a sentence given. later, we were given a clue which had some maths equation which equaled to 1 in the end. even then, we had some difficulties getting the answer. first we got o.3.... (or sumthin like dat) then, we argued abt how to culcalate it...
3-4....- walked to 1-stop. yeah, dat clue brought us there. n yea, it was pouring at that time, no wait, it was raining the whole day already. how sickening. completed more clues there. had some error finding out how many tracks were in delta goodrem's 'innocent eyes' album. then, after wastin a lot of precious time, mel had a brainwave; he called one of his friends back home to check it out n hey presto! instantaneous answer. now, if only we had thought of dat earlier. darn.
4 something - rushed to the bus stop only to realise dat the bus had only jz left mins ago. oh crap. sat around eating kfc n (in my case) having pessimistic rantings on being the last team to finish the race. bus came, picked us, bus went.
reached prangin - last leg of the race. thank gdness....
4.45pm - waited 4 the bus to take us back.
5.10pm - still waiting.
5.15pm- out of frustration, we took the bus to batu lanchang instead. there, n bcos we were the last group to finish (sob, sob) we were specially driven home by some of the seniors who couldn't wait 4 us to reach anymore. so, i guess we finished the race in style.
abt 6- safely back. albeit too late of cos. we had a review... really lawak as the committee recounted tales of the teams goofing up n stuff. all the team leaders had to then say a speech n well, it was fun. really insightful. really.
the nxt sat is to be continued

old times
i miss the isca times. n i noe most of the old ppl (ex-isca-ians) do too. ahh.. da gud n bad ol' times. isca was really a placed where i belonged... where i identified with, where i grew up in. and now... isca is jz a past, slowly fading, leaving bits n pieces left in my storage memory abt to be pushed back to make room for new ones. let me think of wut i can scratch up from the dust...
well, i can rmb...
1. a certain someone (no names mentioned) whom i guess had a growth spurt and cudden quite coordinate his movements quite well... hehe... sumhow, dat person was always banging into things, hurting himself... poor boy.
2. another individual, who unwittingly and singlehandedly broke his guitar neck. bravo hercules!
3. lotsa perli-ing (teasing) esp abt 2 ppl called j* and A*. i think in the game of tembak-ing & perli-ing, no one was spared. not in the least MUA... but let's not get into it.
4. guitar lessons.... we gals went thru teacher after teacher after teacher... the list goes on. then came josh.. u've heard it b4...yadda, yadda... n we used to make up silly stories of him n his 'wives' erm, guitars...( musician lingo) .
5. ping-pong sessions. when we gals (esp me) scrambled to secure the better pp table from the guys, namely, bk & co. n come in sweaty n stinky after many rounds of pp. i like pp... it's the only game i play relatively ok... . any1 willing to play wiv me?
6. games, lotsa games. n who can forget tt time when j* n J* banged each other in da stomache n felt flat on their posterior during watchmen & rattlesnake? hehehe... so lawak. i cud almost hear da *boing* sound in my head. of cos, dat's jz pure exaggerated me.
7. the football times- our all star *ahem* gals futsal squad.
place: annexe
time: b4 & after isca
ball: basketball
lame huh? but we had fun. and the reactions caused... i quote ; " wah! gals oso can play ar?" followed by quizzical stares of disbelief, "hahaha.... gals who play football... not bad ah!", " eh, pastor, look... all gal football team".
