welcome home

it's so good to be back. to a house that is noisy with people buzzing around... where i can be as messy and disgusting as i want to. and fat sara to disturb. hehe. yep it's good to be home.

so since i'm back, i'll give you a brief tour of my workplace. i can say anything i want now that i'm no longer there. hopefully i don't ever need to apply for a job there in the future. not that it's that bad... just not that keen le. anyway...

welcome to angkasapuri. remember to go to the guardhouse to get your visitor's pass before going in. and i hope you're wearing your good walking shoes cos it's a long climb up. yes, why do you think it's called BUKIT angkasapuri?

this is the building where i work in. wisma radio. also happens to be the oldest building there with the slowest lifts on earth. almost everyone uses the stairs here.

this is the humble office of TRAXX fm. we have a little roof where people go to smoke on. there's a huge no smoking sign and a poster of a deformed cancered body on the door leading to the roof, but i guess it's not working. too bad.

the traxxmobile. that's what they (i say they cos i'm no longer in it) bring out during roadtours. they have a huge flat screen tv and wii hooked up to it also. kinda cool la.

employee of the month. haha i wish. i'm just waiting for the train to take me home so no harm camwhoring to occupy my time right?

during one of our road tours in kl. these are some of the djs and my colleagues.

questionnaires... part of what i do there...

and this is our cute lil studio, or what we call conty. this is where the dj's go on air... actually, the place you see now is the producer's booth, the studio is further inside. sometimes i do delivery for my colleagues so i get to come down here quite a lot.

well my colleagues kinda threw me a farewell party on my last day of work. and one of the dj's cooked pasta for us (it was omg... superb! but still, no one makes better pasta than my mom. she's the best la). which made me feel a bit guilty because the whole time i was just hoping my internship there would end so i could just go home. oops! was that a lil too honest?

and oh i had this evaluation form which my supervisor had to fill in... you know... the 'has he/she been a good worker' form. under strengths and weaknesses... "she has helped a lot and showed great learning capabilities, but there is a lack of initiative.". omgosh... and i had the same thing on my std 2 report card. did i not change at all these, let me see... past 12 years? initiative? what is that?? initiative is lost on me laaa... haih... time to show some initiative! but no butt kissing. i draw the line at butt kissing. eek!

so goodbye kl! for now and i hope for always. i don't mind the occasional visits now and then but staying with you is kind of a pain. come to think of it, i quite enjoy my power walks everyday there. if only there was someone to accompany me and without the constant threat of muggers. at least it made me feel healthier (if only in my head) for once, instead of the skinny slob of potato i'm going to become again back home. i need to get some exercise here (but lazy). but when all's said and done, i'm glad to be home.

pre goodbye

it's my last week here and i'm determined to make it my best week.

so far, the week has started off pretty. well, if you on't count me getting sick on sunday that is. yesterday was quite a quiet and relaxing day, i got to leave early as well. then this morning i had a ride to the station. i usually have to walk on tues, thurs and fri... so it's really a blessing that i didn't have to today.

and i saw a rainbow!

justin: oh look! rainbow!
denise: *blur* huh? what?
justin: rainbow
denise: oh ooh... but i can only see one side of it...
(trust me to have one but)

and i got my size 5 and 1/2 feet stepped on about 3 times on the train. it's my feet k... not the floor... notice the difference. oh that was just nonsense le, i just wanted to add that in. heheh.

i can't wait for my family to come down on thurs and courier me home on sat. yes SATURDAY! so expect to see me on penang soil by then. i can't decide what i want to eat first once i'm back on food paradise... shall i have... char kuey teow? chicken rice? laksa? lok lok? satay? pork sausage? roasted chicken wings? pasta? crap i'm getting hungry. everything in penang is good le... i don't know why, but it just is. even the "oklah... so so" food is better than the food here. kl people label me a food snob and whenever i say that i'm from penang, they'll all nod and give me that understanding look. oh well. i'm just used to good food, that's all.

but i will be missing some food here. some only... wendy's, burger king, carl's jr and the fantabulicious swedish meatballs from ikea. having a bad craving for swedish meatballs now (note to self: must get parents to tapau that for me if they happen to go there).

for the ladies

here's one reason to save your virginity til you get married.

did you know that having an active sex life with multiple partners especially is the leading cause of cervical cancer for women. it is not caused by exposure to radiation or the food that you eat.
surprising yes?

it's actually because there's a certain virus or something (look, medical terms just floor me ok) called HPV which 80-90% causes the cells at the cervix to change and hence, a very probable chance of getting cervical problems, and possibly cancer. HPV only, and i repeat, ONLY comes from guys (don't ask me why) and is transfered through... duh! intercourse, because during sex, the penis comes into contact with the cervix and there you have it.

and how do i know? we had a gynae come and for an interview during the TRAXX 101 health what not interview. and i had to layan the guests cos my colleague had to be somewhere else. it was sufficiently awkward, i was never good at making small talk... sadly. but at least i had to listen to the interview. which i found very informative. i mean, it made me learn more about my own body.

anyway, if you must have sex, be safe please, and try to stick to as few partners as possible. and to all women, remember your pap smear. gosh i can't believe this has come up. haha.

well, i'm just relaying what i heard. so if i didn't get any of the medical mumbo jumbo right, feel free to correct me.

rain rain go away

i need a new umbrella

it was raining heavily and the one i had turned inside out yesterday, became stiff all over so i can't get it to open or close. haih. and it was a folding umbrella summore! the one which i keep in my bag all the time cos you never know when it might rain here (which is everyday). so handy.

and as it always happens... it was raining this morning. what joy!
so i borrowed/curi-ed the only (though i hope not) umbrella in the house. had to walk to the station mer. don't expect me to walk in the rain right? this really rusty, ugly, heavy thing. but it covered me sufficiently well so i won't complain about it.

anyone with a spare folding umbrella that you can bless me with?

* begging puppy eyes *

okla i know my eyes are not very effective in dazzling people...

happy birthday denise

to everyone who wished me
i love ya'll.
to everyone who didn't
i still love you. hehe.

i didn't expect much on my birthday... well i still don't expect anything, cos well, the obvious reason would be that i am in kl, with no car, not many friends and the second reason would be that i have work today and tomorrow. a bit bummed le...

i know i'll make up for it when i get back to penang, but today IS my seh jit so maybe you'd understand? somehow everybody hopes their birthday would be special and be treated like the king (or queen) for the day. or am i the only kuno one? lol. but but but...

those birthday wishes really made my day a lil happier (especially "tell denise JT loves her" haha). people care about me! *melts in sweetness*

we will have a better bday when i get back now won't we?

because i suka

sayang sekali

and if you wanted to know, we're still doing good.

for old time's sake

2 years ago perhaps?

these were my closest mates from school. and you know what? they still are. yeah we run in different circles and all, but still... it's glutton hardworking ross, happening ting en, blur denise and crazy asst head prefect leena. actually they're all crazy. ok, WE are all crazy. as each year passes, it gets harder and harder for us to meet together, we're all at different places now (except for 2 of us). there'll usually be one missing. nevertheless, i love them still. they're the friends i want to bring my children over for playdates.

denise's days

how do i start writing this...

well i had such an interesting week i thought i'd share it with everybody. i'm past the rant and rage and despair stage so i can talk rationally about it now. but it's made me quite tired and discouraged.

firstly, on tuesday. now how many of you heard about the power failure on the putra lrt lines? yeah i was one of the many passengers stuck at kl sentral forced to find another alternative home. but thank God i wasn't stuck in the train or stranded at some of the smaller stations. and also for lionel who was kind enough to pick me up and drop me home. how do people survive without friends?

then this morning... i

  1. had to walk from my house to the lrt station.
  2. witnessed a snatch theft incident right in front of my eyes. and on the road where i walk EVERYDAY!!!! i have to use that road back everyday and for something like that to happen so casually, really shatters whatever sense of security i have. or had.
  3. was stuck in the lrt. thanks to the train doors that wouldn't close. so we all had to leave the train we were in to wait for another one. and you know the lines on weekday mornings.
  4. was consequently late for work. i heard there were some technical problems on the ktm as well...but seeing that i was already late, didn't affect me much.

and no, there's no number 5. four things are enough already i think, for one morning. i only hope the following days until my long awaited, much anticipated departure from this place will be as uneventful as possible. i don't know how much more i can take.

i'm still ranting, aren't i?

since

  1. i can't view anyone else's blog (except jt's for some reason... my comp and his bonded le i guess. haha)
  2. i've nothing to do now
  3. i've got lotsa thoughts i don't know which to share

i shall attempt to post something up.

hello! *wave*

what's been happening this past few days... let's see...

well, my lecturer's sprang a surprised visit on us (the others from my college who are interning at rtm) while we were working. but it turned out well. everyone was like "she's been such a help to us" "you should give her an A" hehe... such nice collegues. eventhough i was never close to those lecturers, it was like... a piece of home you know, to see them. for a moment, i felt close to them... and actually felt kinda sad when they left. what has become of me?

and i've been in foul moods lately. any little thing'll just set my volcano off.

went for traxx's roadtour with some of the crew and dj's. which was really exciting, but hot and i was starving throughout. but it was waaaaay better than staying behind in the north pole we call wisma radio, cutting and pasting yet another letter. we went around kl streets, and played games with passerbys (wii wei...), gave out prizes, made a lot of noise, basically that's about it. they also went to penang last weekend, i meant to blog about it but forgot. to those who happened to be there, i'm dying to know how it was.

and, sigh... i don't know what's wrong with me nowadays. i've always found it difficult to cry. i hardly ever cry. although sometimes i'd wish i could do it easily so i could vent my feelings, cos it's so hard when you're feeling lousy but can't cry. so it all stays bottled up in you. but lately, somewhere during the past year and this, i've been crying quite a lot. just a small thing and the waterworks are off. gosh i'm becoming a real girl la! i don't know if that's in a good way or not. haha. i cry when i'm lonely i cry when i'm sad i cry when i'm frustrated... basically it's like the weather here. stormy. adoi probably it's making up for all the years of not crying.
i miss my family a lot.
and furry lazy sara.

shopaholic

i am becoming one.

bad
bad
bad
bad denise.

what is it about kl and shopping? or is it just me?

i've been here since jan and i've been shopping every weekend. weekends only cos i work on weekdays hence, no time to go out. plus, i have friends to teman me on sats and suns and whatever public hols that come our way. i think i haven't missed a weekend yet.

it's worrying.

so i've been to erm let's see... midvalley, 1u, sunway pyramid, times square, sungei wang, pavillion, bangsar village(s), maju junction, klcc, ikano, cineleisure... yeah i think that's about it. gosh more than enough i think. and i've been coming back with at least an item every single time.

i tried to stop today. but i still ended up purchasing something. got a dress for my sis and something i needed. consumerism is so so strong here i'm almost drawn by it.

must save money d now... so i can splurge one last time before i go home (i can see some eye-rolling haha). which is one more month away by the way... home i mean. gosh i am SOOOOOO looking forward to that! back to my comfy home, people who love me, my mom's home cooked food (don't have to crack my head deciding what and where to eat every day), my car, people to fetch me around, church, college (although i don't like it, but it beats working here hands down) and whatever other stuff i might've missed out. miss it so much. this is my first taste of being independant and i long to come back to be pampered again.

kl... no big deal. so nice meh?

i think i have rather well-toned calves now from all that walking *aiseh* . forced exercise. good for me i guess... since i won't get anymore of that when i get back to the relative comfort of arriving from doorstep to doorstep. i can't wait to not have to climb the steep hill that is angkasapuri. people who work there and walk... i guess they must be pretty fit. probably that's why they need so many refreshment breaks during the day. i can tell you, the canteen at rtm is the most happening place there.

and parking fees in kl malls are so darn expensive!!!! and to top it off, parking is so hard to get.
don't people here have anywhere else to go?
