from gold coast

sea world

and paradise country farm

lots of sunshine

on umm... it was a monday i think, well you know how it is on vacations that you can;t tell one day from another, that we left cold sydney for sunny gold coast. queensland- the sunshine state. yeah yeah...

walking around downtown

well my sis absolutely loves gold coast. think: stretches of gorgeous beaches, hot bods *wink wink*, and surf brands. haha. but i kinda prefer brisbane. anyway, most people go to gc for their vacations so it has this sorta 'holiday-like' atmosphere. which is fun because you know everyone's just out to have well, fun.

and i like like like the way the people dress there. the girls i mean. they wear lots of dresses which i heart (summer dresses especially). and skinnys and flats, print tees... really casual but nice. and since it's almost summer there, the clothes can be worn back here. so hehe, we kinda went a lil crazy buying stuff. and of course... sunnies! everyone there wears shades because the sun's really really bright and it's painful to not wear them.

recognize this store?

oh yeah, and the week we were there, they had the Indy, which is like F3 right in gc. which was a good and also a bad thing. the bad being a lot of roads were closed so you can imagine what the traffic was like. but the good part... aha! street parties, private parties and i heard that good charlotte and nicole ritchie were in town for for the after-race party. with the veronicas too.

v8 supercar. they race this and also the f1-type looking cars. the difference being all the cars in the Indy are manual.

came out from the grocery store in time to see this.

and this...

in the heart of GC is surfers paradise. which is kinda like, the town centre. to me it felt like that. hotels, nice shops... good food... plus it opens til about 10 because of the pub going crowd. so, more power to the shoppers.

yes, it's as beautiful as it looks. and the sand... my gosh the sand.... so soft and so fine

hotel we stayed in

my hotel was in the middle of surfers paradise so we're within walking distance with just about everything. shops and all... so much so that i knew my way about pretty well. not bad eh for someone who needs help getting around penang roads.

view from my room

we spent the most time in Gold Coast so, come to think of it, i do miss it quite a lot.

it's wed already. yay!!

my saturday

starting to get lazy to post pics up.
plus it's starting to get boring. even after two posts about it.
amazing.
anyway, will get back to that later.

yes i do like myself

so yesterday, my col had to play host, no wait, the mass comm society committee members(gosh what a mouthful)

random pic of THEM

had to play host to visiting students from some col in johor.
i came late (20 mins only laa) and the first thing kitt yeng said to me,
"they only speak CHINESE!"
lol. i should've expected that.

my first time being a tour guide.
no that's not right either.... we bullied the only FLUENT mandarin speaker (my senior, jason) into being our guide and translator. *evil laughter*

so the 3 of us were like shepards herding this flock of sheep (felt like it anyway)

had lunch in batu lanchang market and became food critic pulak.
as if i go there often.
ice kacang uncle and char kuey teow aunty should really subsidise me for bringing them more business. really la.

oh oh... and the amazing bus.
i'm not even going begin describing it.
okok, all adjectives: small, old, airconless, cheap, small, small small....
i really can't believe the admin is being so cheap. i mean, hello~ what kind of impression are you giving to our visitors? there were not enough seats that some people had buttache. kesian.

my friend used to call buses like that bread vendors. cos it looks like a loaf of bread.

places we visited.

guan yin ting (temple)

penang museum (it is getting more and more boring)
gurney plaza (i'm so sick of malls but for the sake of sitting down somewhere with *gasp* god forbid! aircon....

speaking of which, met the tings (ting en and su ting) outside coffee bean which was great.

invited them to crash our bbq

my legs look short in this.

and yeah, the supposed highlight of the day.
BBQ
starting the fire was fun. hehe kinda like the good-at-times guides times.

eating was fun too.
of course

crept off to go home during some game which until now i'm still figuring out how to play.
ok and yes, i DO feel bad for ditching the people there AND for not even helping to clean up *guilt pangs*

pity the prez, he's so sweet he won't even torture me for not doing my share.

but at that time i was super exausted and the only thing on my mind was
"go home go home"

but, i did have fun

i'm startin to have a thing for hats

i know i look funny in this. don't comment. it was just so cute i had to try it on

my sis looks sooooo cute. ahaha...

but imagine if we wore it back here in pg...

oh yeah by now, i think you've figured that the pics of me are just random. told you i like myself. oh yeah, and anyone who wants to dress up as a cowboy/girl this halloween, come see me. i have 4 straw cowboy hats just waiting to sit on someone's head.

still sydney- 2nd day

day of nice vehicles. saw this posse of ducatis' and harley davidsons... and a gorgeous porsche.

so first on the schedule: blue mountain. lots of breathtaking scenery as can be expected. if you like that kinda thing... well, i'm not such a scenery person, but places like this really make you wonder why you thought your life revolved around you in the first place. it's like "God made all of this. WOW!"

and after that went to some park for a picture postcard view of the harbour. further down was an art gallery and since i kept insisting we went to have a look, we skipped the view and walked there instead. haha. yes, i am a pest sometimes.

didn't do much after that. went to darling harbour again to look see... it's really nice; they have all these lil cafes and bars and restaurants by the harbour just overlooking the sea. very romantic.

day 1- Sydney

reached sydney airport at about 11am approx (2 hours behind schedule). my gosh... what a bad bad flight. i was air sick (almost, but did not puke), and i'm NEVER air sick.

rushed to our first stop; sydney fish market for lunch. seriously, if you're expecting wet floors and smelly fishes like our pasar back home, it's totally different. i mean, yeah, you do smell the faint seafood smell but mostly it's very dry and clean. they have these huge counters selling all kinds of seafood and u can just pick something you like, mr lobster, and ask the person to cook it for you on the spot. fast lunch. most people who go there do that, and they buy a bottle of wine and some bread and picnic there. so cool, and cheap too.

after that, went around sydney city... nice place though it looked a bit gloomy cos of the rain. it almost never rains there but guess we were the vips, haha. most of the older buildings there are made of sandstone, woth carvings so it looks pretty imposing.

then went on a ferry ride. captain cook's ferry (or whatever the name is) to look at the sights from the harbour. they have 2 harbours, darling and sydney harbour (i personally like darling better). so they took us to see the sydney harbour bridge and the sydney opera house (standard sydney sights) from the sea.

later at night, we walked around chinatown. our hotel is just a road away from it. very near. chinatown is... pretty happening at night (everywhere else closes at 5) but also kinda scary. i mean, it just looks like the place where you'll get mugged at night.

the journey there

written in changi airport (11/10/07)
12 something am

i'm waiting for my flight to sydney. i mean, still waiting. at this rate, i think it'll be about 1 before i get to board the plane. i'm writing this now so i guess you can tell how amazingly bored i am at the moment.
this hols, i'm gonna do my best to:
a) not complain (that much)
b) not grumble (if i can help it), and
c) just relax and enjoy the ride (part of the fun of reaching the destination is the journey right? so i've been told anyway)

anyway, back to my journey so far...

started off rather frantically with us leaving the house late (but reaching on time hahah) and later had problems with the ticketing (my ticket. almost couldn't get a seat on the plane to sydney... how inefficient) which almost, almost but not quite, made us miss our flight. interesting start

dad checking in bags

then arrived in changi airport to find that our flight was full to the max (apparently, it's the season to go to aus) and *sigh* delayed. so we just browsed through the shops there, tested the perfumes at the perfume counter, lusted over stuff i can never afford (coach blablabla...) and writing this.

cool sports bar there.

entering departure hall soon.

back

i'm back! though not many people know, i was in kangarooland for the past ten days. it's been really great (most vacations are anyway). got home and was bombarded with my accumulated mountain of postponed-to-the-last-minute work. sigh... i shall not procrastinate anymore, i really shall not procrastinate anymore...

and yes, i will blog about the trip (with lotsa pics as promised). it's just that i might be a bit slow in doing that. this week has been just crazy busy. only had time to unpack my stuff today (i reached penang on mon) and yeah.. with my mass comm society stuff, haven't had time to even sit down to watch tv (finally got to today hehe) and get used to the newly relocated astro channels; such an inconvenience... gotta press so many buttons.

anyway, i shall get started on my aussie trip
*smiles*

back when

i was looking through my old photo albums. when i say old, i mean back when i was still in pampers (oh wait, i don't think they had pampers back then) and still very chubby. i was a fat baby then.

anyway, i was looking further back and man, have you ever come across pictures of your parents back when they were your age? i mean, hahaha it's just so weird to think of them once being like me. and the fashion back then.... *giggle* big hair, big shoulder pads, big everything. oh oh.. and the glasses.... hahaha. i'm just so mean. and my parents looked like they just stepped out of some 80's hong kong movie.

power dressing of the 80's. yuck!
big sleeves.

everyone could be a football player then. american football by the way. thing i don't understand is, why can't they call football football instead of soccer? makes life so difficult for us only. football originated from the uk and they call it football. so why in the world is it soccer then in some other places? there's this theory that countries that call football soccer aren't very good at it. hahah. but then, it doesn't explain the standard (or lack) of m'sian football does it? because no matter how much we call football football... it ain't gonna help our national squad much. how sad.

got this during the world cup season last year from a friend. it's not really good but you get the point.

the japs asked god when will their turn come to win the worldcup. god answers "in 50 years time". the japs cry because it'll be a long time still. then the koreans asked the same question. god says "in 100 years". koreans cry because they might not live to see it. lastly, the m'sians asked god when will their turn come. this time god cries because he doesn't know if he'll still be there to see it.

*sigh* and speaking of which, liverpool's been having a dry run from a promising start. how can? kek sim (heartache) when i see them sliding lower the club standings every week. haihhhhh.... but thank goodness for torres.

me and my teeth

my wisdom tooth peeked out today. have been feeling it for some time but saw first glimpse today.

wisdom teeth = wise .... geddit? geddit...??

anyway, 1 down 3 more to go. hope they never come out. which means my orthodontist (yes i had braces once upon a time thought it doesn't look as if i did) is a fortune teller. no wait, i mean, a a a... sheesh my mind's blank now... can't think. fortune teller's fine i think. he predicted that my 4 (gosh i'm jz so wise) wisdom teeth would start coming out when i'm 18. and well, guess he's right. boring. anyway, what was my point? oh yeah, if he ever wants to, you know, branch out and earn more money than he already does... he can advertise his services as a wisdom teeth predictor.

other than that history making groundbreaking piece of news, no my life is as interesting as britney spears on maternity leave (which was some time ago i'm guessin). don't you just wanna be in my shoes?

for some reason i'm feeling vry cry-ish at the moment.

and NO i'm not pmsing. lol please...
