series of events starting

mon
got bitten by the ant. man, these ants really do hate me.
second toe starts swelling. looks like a frankfurter.

tues
foot starts to be really painful especially when walking. upon closer inspection, realise that my foot is really starting to resemble a stuffed fish. very nice and pink and fat! and also, it's so so so darn itchy!!! seriously, to scratch it feels like... pure bliss. it's like, the annoying person that you can't shake off; the itch that never goes away. spent the whole day hobbling around due to afflicted foot. at one point, my balloon foot couldn't fit into my sneakers (which i forgot to relace and was wearing in the car). so, had no choice but to ask my mom to turn home for me to change into my slippers.

wed
excruciating pain in the morning. couldn't bear it anymore so went to see the doctor. spent a whole hour there because of the lame-ass system they have there. i mean, can't you just dispense your drugs a lil' faster??? oh yeah, so it turns out that i'm allergic to antbites, so... had to let the doc jab my posterior. i think the last time that happened was when i was a baby.

but now... foot feels real better. i don't limp as much anymore and the pain's subsiding. good thing! but the freakin itch is still there.

so, we'll see how it goes tomorrow. hopefully, my skinny foot will reappear. ok, now i need a scratch.

of antbites, photoshop and assignments

life sucks.

but sometimes... it does suck in a good way. or not. wuteva.

got bitten by an ant. a silly big huge black red-ass ant, in the playground. on the foot. one moment i was walking like a sane normal human and the next i was doubling up, holding my afflicted foot screaming (hopefully the neighbours didn't hear) with my sista and dog staring at me as if i had just grown a hand on my nose.

so now... my second toe's roughly the size of a skinnied mini-sausage also known as a frankfurter.

in an unrelated topic.

photoshoppers and f&c (fish & chips) fans will probably find this guffaw worthy.

also unrelated: my group has finally finally stumbled upon a more workable storyline for our group assignment for human comm class which we all agree on (maybe not completely by certain members, but it's a start). thank God! i don't care whose idea it is, as long as it's good and we can all compromise on it... and most importantly, this new idea does not suck. because denise ong does NOT turn in half baked projects or lame-ness assignments. not if i can help it.

food: the denise culture of overindulging

following the best weekend was the worst week. lotsa things happened which really kinda disillusioned me about life. so hopefully, this week will be better. hey, i mean,. what could get worse right?

spent today pigging out a lot. roti jala, starbuck's mini chicken pie which we "ta pao-ed" from wah chan; which is in fact a jewellery store which had some promo party [well.. you know, m'sian's being what they are... "FREE??? must take more. if cannot finish also must take a lot. then only tatt (worth it)!"]... where was i? o yea... food.. umm... what else did i eat? aha! butter popcorn (ooh.. yummy!), a ferrero rocher (from pastor's wedding) and finally, to polish it all up, ban chang kuehs my dad bought from the market. and then... i could barely walk after that. hehe. but at least i justified my gluttony by going swimming. so... it's alright right? but later, went for dim sum (dinner). a gal's gotta eat you know.

i think i've a history of overeating.
last week at tgi's

i ate this. yummylicious. nachos with baked cheese and what not. i tell you... it is so damn good.

and this. ok, fine... so i know it looks less than flattering and that's because everyone (if you must know... including me) rushed for it before i even remembered to ask my sis to take a picture of it. so... sadly... what you see is what you get. seafood all eaten up, and someone's thing (i dunno wut that is really) in the dip.

and this.... the famous brownie that i've been raving about since i dunno when. oh.... the chocalate.... so what can i say? of course i stuffed myself like nobody's business la. yes, because think of the people in [random starving nation] .... haha... right. as if.

but *sigh* paid for my food lust later during Rob-B-Hood. everytimed i laughed, i had to control my stomach and throat. otherwise... well... you know. and the movie was really darn funny.

~ friday's should really pay me for promoting their stuff here.

what a wonderful weekend!!!

after enduring many put downs and [very] degrading cum negative comments, snides and snickers from them... i can finally laugh in the face of the MU supporters and smugly say "I TOLD YOU SO! haha"

oh happy day! liverpool (kelab kesayangan saya) has proved their mettle and prowess on the pitch once again by beating the Blues. hah! all that money can't buy victory when it's in the merseysiders hands. see.. gerrard is still the best. pity i missed the match though. yeayea.. i know i know... how could i miss such a crucial match right? so, here's to you cynics...

LIVERPOOL 2 - 0 CHELSEA
Saturday 20 January 2007
Barclays Premiership

and happy day yet again! it's unbelievable what epl does to make me happy (it varies from time to time) ... unbelievably believably, the red devils perished (pitiful) at the emirates stadium. beaten! kalah! kena hoot! by arsenal. and to see the manU fans faces... lol... a classic sight. so much so that my lecturer (syaitan merah fan) came in sick today. well, personally, i've nothing against MU, they're the strongest team this season but their supporters are gettin a tad too cocky so... well, i don't have to say it anymore. who knows... i might be ambushedand tortured by them one day.

so.. yeah... a most satisfying weekend at the most. but so far, i haven't found anyone to celebrate with other than leena who's not in pg and who sent me 'you'll never walk alone' for the 3rd or 4th time i think.

"Liverpool are happy today and they deserve to be happy because they played well and deserved to win the game"

some past...

hey, you wanna hear the mother of all perli (teasing) stories?

ok so once upon a time when i was young.. like in Form 1... you know... young=naive=blur, anyway... it was one of the first few weeks of going to graduating from sonshine kids into ISCA. it felt great to be one of the BIG ONES now. i mean, then.

so, one week it was "hi denise..." but the next it became "denise and X, sitting on a tree, K~I~S~S~I~N~G....." i was like "whaaaaaatttt!!!" since when did we become an item? and that, was how the whole torture began. lasted all the way til i was in F3.

and i never even liked him to begin with. all of a sudden, it was me and him; he and i.... and to think of all the things my friends did just to perli me and him. my bad bad friends whom i still dearly love would put our shoes together in hopes that we would bump into 1 another while puttin it on, cut pictures of him when he was young to give to me, tell me every story about him, umm... what else... can't really remember (but if any of you do, pls do refresh my memory, it's amusing to think of it now) . oh yea, thanks to their sources, i knew just about every single thing about him. incredible? yea i know. who was his gf, what class he is in, what school he went to in primary school, his clubs... blablabla... it even came to a point where ross's bro knew about it; and told him. omgosh... i thought i was going to drop dead. but... i lived, as you can see.

things got so bad that even the seniors from church and my classmates got to know about it. and when we met each other, it was something like this.... [look below]

yeah... that bad. and partly because of the very extensive teasing, i didn't get to know him until last year. but at least we can talk now without staring at our feet or something. and yeah.. he's pretty cool... it's good that we can finally put the past behind.

the whole experience was traumatising i can tell you. now i have this phobia (a teeny itsy-bitsy one) of people thinking that i fancy them whether i do or not. *sigh* but as they say... what that doesn't kill you will just make you stronger. agree? but, i have to agree with some of the conspirators that it IS a lil' funny.

additions

~i made another friend today! if i keep that up i'll run out of new friends to make in my class.

it's pathetic i know... but progress is progress.

~forgot to mention this yesterday. guess what? there're monks studyin in my college. seriously.

query: do monks really need a diploma in business management etc? i mean, aren't they supposed to like leave the material world to meditate and contemplate the joy of no tv, no computers, no baskin robbins... i guess not. maybe monks, nuns just gotta move on with the times. no offense meant whatsoever to whatever believers of any religion who terasa. not intentional!

~the college seems less oppressive and just a lil' bit more welcoming now (to me la). Although, i still can't figure out where the heck the downstairs toilets are.

~Had computing 102 today. so... i learnt.... to use the mouse (not kiddin), what is a hardware, what is a software, noobies vs pros (still not kiddin), REM, bytes..... zZZzzzzzZ

mostly basic stuff which was kinda boring. and then he started gettin all technical and i started gettin very blur (especially in my haze of sleepiness) while my friend was browsing through friendster beside me which i can assure you wasn't in the syllabus.

first day of college

if anyone told me say when i was in form 1 that (this are jz examples) i would like some people that i would never have dreamed of liking.... ever, became friends with people i never even knew existed, a few other personal things which i will not say, and me going to a CHINESE COLLEGE (well, they do teach in english, but still...) ; i would've just laughed in that person's face. really. and maybe, just maybe a few random sprays of saliva might've escape cos i would've been laughin too hard. not to disgust you or anything though. haha. which reminds me of an unfortunate incident at faces when my impulsive sister burst out laughin in the middle of a drink whilst spraying the surroundin people with 'holy water'. phew... droplets onto denise's shirt... whee... another 1 into poor bu-ken's unfortunate eye. hahaha....
anyway, let's not get sidetracked.

well, i'm sure some people are just dying to know how my first day as a college freshie went. right.......??? come on... i know you want it [ in a sexy voice, like you know.. when you get a flu or sore throat] .

so.... it was.... umm.... very....

CHINESE!!!

yea... everyone speaks mandarin there. no kidding... i bet if plants could talk, they would be conversing in mandarin too. ok, so here we have a really chinese speaking chinese cultural chinese everything place. can you picture it? uh-huh? and then you stick me, this banana into the place and you get..... [fill in with appropriate word].

well, thank goodness for 1 friend; an ex tuition mate whom i never really talked to in tuition. you know how awful it is when people recognize youand say hi but you think you've seen that person before but don't have a clue who that person is or where you've seen him/her before? yea, well... i was like

friend: hey hieee....
denise: erm... (omgosh... who is this. looks familiar but who?) hi!
mom( who was there to pay my col fees): you know her? (descretely la)
denise: i think so... from.... i think a party.

it only struck me that she was a tuition mate later when she quizzed me on the other tuition members. but i digress. so it's like, kinda hard for me to make friends there other than the one existing friend i have there. no. 1 because of the language barrier and 2 because i'm not a naturally jovial person. i mean, i'm friendly when i know you but as for making
new friends,... lets just say i must've skipped class on that day.

the people there... well... you've got the usual quiet tryin to be cool dude who slouches in the corner, the typical eager student who always manages to sit right in front, the beauty queen, the outsider (me), the tukau (gangster), the tukau's friend, the kawaii (erm,... jap-cute) girls.... well... and the rest. no gorgeous dudes though. tough.

and... that's that. i'm in a chinese speakin college where the formal language IS english which no one but me speaks. if this sounds a bit whiney... sorry. but i'm gonna give it a try. don't give up denise!

btw, it's orientation day today.

pin-ups (courtesy of cu06)

eh look... adidas came out with a new range >>> adischool!
just kiddin!
i seriously love this pic... don't they just look like abercrombie models? haha

just getting started. the worship team getting the crowd from blur to head banging all-out praise.

a.k.a. garbage picking . i went back to the same place a few days later and... it was just the same. no difference at all. in fact it was a lil' dirtier than before.

memo to ciggie users out there... pick up after yourselves!!! most of our garbage are fags (not faggot) and it's impossible to pick them all up. so... like they always say, PICK UP AFTER YOUR FAGS !!! *ahem* cigs... i mean.

unfair world!

i feel as if i've been hit by i dunno... a 20 wheel trailer or something.

i just... don't know what i think anymore. i feel really drained emotionally and it's not even because i'm in love or anything. no this is not about anything like that.

if only our problems would just go away like how we wipe our tears away. if only the world was a friendlier place. people come to me for help and i feel so helpless. my heart cries together with them and i hate it that i can't do anything to make their problems go away.

i feel so heavy inside... what right do i have to deserve what i have when there're people out there suffering on the inside?? when children suffer abuses, when people are dying of hunger, pain, war....? how is it that i have a wardrobe full of clothes and still want more more more when men kill each other over a loaf of bread??? i mean... is that extra pair of shoe necessary when children with AIDS die without money for a proper burial?

how unfair the world is! yet, if u asked me if i would trade my family, my house, my comforts and my priviledges... i'll be truthful n say that i could never sacrifice so much. i've been living in so much comfort... i've become complacent and selfish.

my heart, my soul just aches for them. for those who find consolation in me, for those who are suffering, for those who are alone, for those who are scared, broken, sick, and especially those whom i love... it really frustrates me that all i can offer them is love, word and support. something needs to be done, but i don't know what. and i don't know how.

i feel as if i will never be the same again. it's unexplainable. beneath this facade we hide so much from the world. what it sees is what we choose to let it see. i want to do more than words.

but you know what? i'm really thankful for all that i've been blessed with. now let me be a blessing to others.

cheqUP

i'll always remember...
-many people's sweat, toil, work, tears, prayers, visions and dreams; before, during and after the conference.
-the awesome presence of God throughout cheqUP

i'll never forget...

-clinton's faith in our band
-the continuous encouragement and advice from the seniors
-being a band member and also the joys of performing

i'll always cherish...

-greeting new and old faces, and signing them up during registration on the first day

-helping out during the carnival on the 2nd day. setting up and manning my baseball throw booth was so cool despite the unforgiving heat and the constant crawling to pick up balls. not to forget, pumping and tying those balloons together.. a mammoth task which we managed to finish.

-the cheqUP ushers and being part of that wacky fun-loving team. how can i forget terrorizing the people with our extremely loud "hi's" and "byes" on the last morning!

i'll always be inspired...

-whenever i remember the praise and worship throughout the 3 nights. we ROCKED the place for God!!! the FGA band from kl and our own YAS band were more than great! it was truly one of the sweatiest and tiring times but no one cared! everyone was just having a blast jumping around and praisin God like there was no tomorrow. really.

-by all the lives saved during those 3 days. including the soundman's which was so amazing.

-by Pas. daniel singh's sermons. ok, i'll have to admit i didn't pay attention sometimes but it did inspire me irregardless.

i'll always keep dear to my heart...
-picking up rubbish during our community service. also, almost picking up dogpoo and underwear, sitting in gerakan's meeting room and jacky 'belanja-ing' us "roadside stall drinks".
-9 of us piling into man yoke's car
-hanging out in my house and antz too. lying down and talking nonsense and laughing like wounded baboons.

and i'll always dream of...
-cheqUps on a larger scale
-being a part of it all
-bringing the people of pg to Jesus

unrelated talk:
i heard somewhere (forgot the source) that the proper amount of time to wash your hands is equivalent to singing Happy Birthday twice. so... if you hear me singing happy b'day in the toilet, I AIN'T INSANE aight!
